A 30 day journaling challenge is the gentlest transformation I know: one page a day, for one month, and by the end you're a woman with a practice — and a much closer relationship with herself. If you've always meant to journal 'properly' but never quite stuck with it, a challenge gives you the two things habits need most: a clear plan and a finish line.
Why a Journaling Challenge Works
Thirty days is long enough for real change and short enough to feel doable. The daily rhythm removes decision-making — today's prompt is simply today's prompt — and the accumulating pages become their own motivation. Around week two, something lovely happens: you stop journalling because the challenge says so, and start because the day feels unfinished without it. That's the habit taking root.
One page a day for thirty days — and you'll never have to 'start journalling' again. You'll simply be a woman who writes.
How the 30 Day Journaling Challenge Works
One prompt per day, five to fifteen minutes, in order. Miss a day? Skip it entirely and carry on — catching up is how challenges die. Each week has a theme that builds on the last: noticing, gratitude, depth, and dreaming. Before day one, it's worth reading my guide on how to start journaling to set up your time, place and tiny rituals.
Your 30 Days of Prompts
WEEK ONE · NOTICING (DAYS 1–7)
- Why am I doing this challenge? What do I hope is different on day 30?
- How am I, honestly, today?
- What does an ordinary day in my life look like right now?
- What's taking up the most space in my mind this week?
- When did I feel most like myself today?
- What drained me and what energised me this week?
- What have I noticed by writing this week that I'd been rushing past?
WEEK TWO · GRATITUDE & JOY (DAYS 8–14)
- What are ten things, big or tiny, I'm grateful for right now?
- Who am I grateful for, and what would I say in a thank-you note?
- What simple pleasure did I enjoy today?
- What about my body deserves appreciation?
- What's something hard that turned out to carry a gift?
- What made me laugh or smile this week?
- What do I already have that I once wished for?
WEEK THREE · GOING DEEPER (DAYS 15–21)
- What story about myself am I ready to question?
- What am I avoiding, and what is the avoidance costing me?
- What would I do if I trusted myself completely?
- What does my younger self need to hear from me?
- What boundary would change my daily life most?
- What am I really feeling under the busyness?
- What truth has been circling these pages for three weeks?
WEEK FOUR · DREAMING FORWARD (DAYS 22–30)
- How do I want to feel most days — and what creates that feeling?
- What would I love my life to look like one year from today?
- What tiny habit is quietly building that life already?
- What am I ready to release as this month closes?
- What have I learned about myself in these pages?
- What surprised me most during this challenge?
- What will my journalling practice look like after day 30?
- Write a letter to the woman who started this challenge 29 days ago.
- Day 30: read back through everything. What's the one sentence you'll carry forward?
After Day 30: Keeping the Flame
Finish the challenge and you'll have something rare — 30 days of evidence that you show up for yourself. Keep the rhythm going with my daily journal prompts, or point the practice at your next becoming with journal prompts for personal growth. And if you'd love your next month guided for you — with structure, affirmations and daily support woven in — that's exactly what I built the 21-Day Challenge to be.

FAQs About the 30 Day Journaling Challenge
What if I miss a day of the challenge?
Skip it and move on — an imperfect finished challenge beats a perfect abandoned one every time.
How long should each day's entry take?
Five to fifteen minutes — depth matters more than length, and short honest entries absolutely count.
Can beginners do a 30 day journaling challenge?
It's actually the perfect way to start — the daily prompt removes the hardest part, deciding what to write.
What's the difference between this and a guided challenge?
This DIY version gives you the prompts; a guided program like the 21-Day Challenge adds structure, affirmations and support around them.
